AZAM’S JAUHAR UNIV GETS AN ARMY TANK

-

BAREILLY: Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has announced to install a tank at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur. Khan is the chairman of the university. The move comes after Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) VC suggested that installing a war machine on varsity campus instills a sense of patriotism in students. “We are very thankful to Indian Army for acknowledging our request for the tank. We will make sure that the tank is installed in the university where students and visitors could see,” Azam told reporters on Wednesday. Khan also used the moment to iron out political controversy regarding to him and the army. In 2015, he was criticized for his statement which claimed that “Muslim soldiers won Kargil war.” This year too, the former minister came under fire when in a statement he linked soldiers to sexual crime against adivasis. “This present (tank) from our Army is answer to all those who claim that Azam Khan is against the Army.” Khan said. “The university will make a fresh request of guns and other weapons to the Army in order to make an arms museum,” he added.
