FIJI STUDENT THRASHED ON BHU CAMPUS

VARANASI: A foreign student was allegedly beaten up on Friday evening by four unidentifi­ed students near faculty of art intersecti­on on the Banaras Hindu University premises. Police have registered a case in this connection on Sunday. According to police, Munish Krushil, a native of Fiji, is a student of BA first year. After attending classes, he was on way back to Internatio­nal hostel when a group of four students thrashed him near the intersecti­on of faculty of Arts. The boy informed the Fiji Embassy and filed a written complaint with the BHU proctorial board.

VARANASI: A foreign student was allegedly beaten up on Friday evening by four unidentifi­ed students near faculty of art intersecti­on on the Banaras Hindu University premises.

Police have registered a case in this connection on Sunday.

According to police, Munish Krushil, a native of Fiji, is a student of BA first year at the faculty of arts in BHU.

After attending classes, he was on his way back to internatio­nal hostel when a group of four students pushed him to the ground near Maitri guest house on Banaras Hindu University campus.

He somehow managed to dodge them and ran towards his hostel.

As he reached near the intersecti­on of faculty of Arts, the same group of students stopped and thrashed him.

The boy informed the Fiji embassy and filed a written complaint with the BHU proctorial board.

Chief proctor professor Royana Singh immediatel­y sent the complaint to the police, which registered a case against four unidentifi­ed students.

Station officer Lanka Police station Sanjiv Mishra said a case had been registered under section 352 (punishment for assault), 323 (punishment for voluntaril­y causing hurt), and 504 (intentiona­l insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of IPC against four unidentifi­ed students.

A team has been deployed to identify the students and senior authoritie­s informed.
