3 more members of serial killer brothers’ gang held
LUCKNOW: The city police continued with their crackdown on the gang of serial killer brothers, Salim, Rustam and Sohrab, as their three more active members were arrested from Sarojininagar area for extortion from businessmen, jewellers, contractors and builders.
The accused Sohrab Ali alias Kallu, Mohd Sufiyana and Imran also collected extortion amount from operators of betting and gambling dens operational in the city as well as other adjoining districts. Inspector of Sarojininagar police station, DK Shahi said the extortion and collection from illegal activities were the main source of income for the serial killer brothers, who are lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail for past many years. He said the brothers easily operated their gang with the help of their accomplices who handed over the extortion amount to their family members.
Shahi said the three brothers had employed people on monthly salary to work for them and provided extra money in the form of commission on accomplishing the tasks successfully. He said, “At present, Sohrab’s wife Shanno and his elder brother Salim’s paramour used to handle the gang’s money transactions. The gang members used to hand over the collected amount to the two women, who in turn later passed on information to the three brothers in Tihar jail or during their visits to Kanpur court”. He said the two women are still at large.
He said the three active members of the gang were arrested on the specific tip off about their movement from Lucknow and Kanpur. He said they were intercepted in Sarojininagar and arrested.
One of the three accomplices, Imran was the key accused in the murder of former MP’s grandson and property dealer, Mohd Zaid Shakeel, 26, in Bazarkhala on June 5, 2016. On October 10, the STF had arrested seven dreaded gang members of the same gang.
