Clinton attacks Trump on Iran, N Korea policies

- Letters@hindustantimes.com

WASHINGTON: Hillary Clinton has said President Donald Trump’s threat to pull out of the Iran nuclear accord is “dangerous,” and suggested her former campaign opponent is undermining the validity of the United States’ promises to other nations.

Clinton, in an interview to CNN, said Trump’s insistence on decertifying the deal, even though evidence has pointed to Iranian compliance, “makes us look foolish and small and plays right into Iranian hands.”

“That is bad not just on the merits for this particular situation, but it sends a message across the globe that America’s word is not good,” said Clinton.

“We have different presidents, and this particular president is, I think, upending the kind of trust and credibility of the United States’ position and negotiation that is imperative to maintain.”

Clinton, who as secretary of state for President Barack Obama began negotiations on the deal, also denounced Trump’s bellicose language toward North Korea, believing his verbal aggression has rattled American allies. “We will now have an arms race -- a nuclear arms race in East Asia,” Clinton predicted.

In a separate interview to BBC, she cautioned Britain over its push to secure a trade deal with Trump after it leaves the European Union. “You’re making a trade deal with somebody who says he doesn’t believe in trade, so I’m not quite sure how that’s going to play out over the next few years,” she said.

PUBLISHER OFFERS $10 MN FOR DIRT ON TRUMP

Hustler Magazine publisher Larry Flynt offered $10 million on Sunday for dirt to help remove Trump from office, in a full page ad in the Washington Post.

“I do not expect any of Trump’s billionaire cronies to rat him out, but I am confident that there are many people in the know for whom $10 million is a lot of money,” he said in the ad.

Flynt noted that he had used million dollar cash rewards before to elicit information that helped upend the careers of two Republican politicians.
