LUCKNOW: Aryan Juyal struck yet another unbeaten century this season to help defending champions Uttar Pradesh make it to the knockout of the Central Zone Under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy, scripting a facile 45-run win against Chhattisgarh in Gwalior on Sunday.

Uttar Pradesh finished second in the zonal league with 16 points in five matches, whereas Vidarbha with 20 points in five matches finished top.

But Sameer Choudhary (3/41), Shivam Dixit (3/37) and Kritagya Singh (2/34) then ripped through Chhattisgarh batting and got them out for 247 in 45.3 overs.

NO PLAY

It was yet another ‘no play’ day on the second day of the Ranji Trophy match between former champions Uttar Pradesh and hosts Hyderabad at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad as a heavy rain continued to dash all hopes of play.

After the opening day’s wash out, none of the side could make it to the ground as a heavy rain continued throughout the day. Third day play is also unlikely on Monday.

RAIN TROUBLE

Uttar Pradesh also went through the rain trouble on the opening day of their four-day Plate Group B tie of Col CK Nayudu Trophy Under-23 against hosts Chhattisgarh at Bhilai on Sunday.

UP were 41/0 in 15 overs while batting first after winning the toss, when rain stopped play soon after the first drinks, and not even a single ball could be bowled thereafter.

Madhav Kaushik (23, 48b, 2x4) and Hardeep Singh (17, 43b, 2x4) were at the crease when umpires called off the day’s play.
