Kavya bags a golden double
LUCKNOW: Young Kavya Kushwaha hogged limelight in the Vijay Vishwanath badminton tournament, winning a golden double, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium here on Sunday.
First she had the under-13 title, brushing aside Pavi Kalra 21-11, 21-14, before outplaying Sneha Singh 21-16, 21-19, 21-11 in the under-16 final.
CONTRASTING WINS
It was a day of contrasting wins in the 2nd Neelam Devi Veteran T-20 cricket tournament, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari stadium here on Sunday. Himalayan Club beat Jal Sansthan Lucknow by 42 runs, whereas hosts LVCA beat 999 Club by 14 runs.

ASCA Green defeated ASCA Brown by nine wickets to collect full points in the 10th RD Sinha Memorial cricket tournament, at the Avadh School ground here on Sunday. In other match of the day, ASCA Purple beat ASCA Yellow by 51 runs.
THRILLING WIN
Bharitya Vidya Bhawan scored a thrilling two wickets win against St Joseph’s in a league match of the 19th Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi Inter-School cricket tournament here. In other matches of the day, St Clear’s College beat DPS Eldeco by 32 runs, Colvin Taluqdars’ beat Vidyatree Modern School by nine wickets and LPC Sahara Estates beat Scholar’s Home by 81 runs.

Pawan Batham scored 4.5 points to emerge champions in the open category of the chess tournament here on Sunday. Mayank and KK Khare finished second and third, respectively. Tanishq Gupta won in u-16, while Dhairyash stood top in u-12 category.
