3 killed in mishap on Lko-Agra expressway

LUCKNOW:Three persons, including a teenage boy, were killed in a mishap after a van was hit by a bus on Agra-Lucknow expressway in Kakori here on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased boy’s younger brother was also critically injured in the accident.

Those killed were identified as Vinod Tripathi, 50, his nephew Surjan, 15, and the van driver Sanjay, 23, all residents of Mallawa of Hardoi’s Bhagwantna­gar area. The injured was identified as Surjan’s brother Shubhram, 13, who is undergoing treatment at KGMU’s trauma centre.

The incident took place near Madhanpur village in Kakori when the van was coming towards Lucknow at around 2pm.

The van had head-on collision with a private bus heading towards Etawah and got badly crushed.

Those passengers were severely injured and got trapped inside the crushed van.

A local said those travelling in the van were taken out after cutting the mangled remains of the vehicle after an effort of two hours.

They were rushed to a hospital where three were declared brought dead while one was later shifted to the KGMU’s trauma centre for further treatment.

Police said Vinod along with his two nephews Surjan and Shubhram was coming to Lucknow to see the boys’ mother admitted at civil hospital.

The police have registered an FIR against unidentifi­ed bus driver for causing death and injuries due to reckless driving and further probing the matter.
