ALLAHABAD: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has decided to conduct a storytelling competition for government-run primary school teachers with the aim to instil moral values among children. The contest is a step towards helping teachers impart value-based education to children by telling them inspirational stories. The competition will be conducted at district-level in the first phase and at divisionlevel in the second phase. The first phase will be organised by the respective district institute of education and training (DIET) to carry out screening of primary school teachers on November 10.

The screening of teachers will be based on the subject and the style of storytelling.

The DIETs will shortlist 10 teachers during screening, who will be called on a specified date for presentation before children and the three-member selection committee formed by DIETs.

The selection committee will further select two best teachers and send their names to SCERT by November 17. The list of interested teachers will be accepted at DIETs through assistant basic shiksha adhikaris till October 31.

In the second phase, top two teachers shortlisted from each district will have to give a final presentation at the Council’s office in November-end. The selection committee will shortlist top two teachers from every division who will be felicitated by the Council. The videos of these teachers will also be uploaded on the Council’s official website to educate primary school teachers about the art of storytelling.
