LUCKNOW:Now, morning walkers and revellers visiting Janeshwar Mishra Park will have to pay entry fee.

The Lucknow Development Authority had mooted a proposal before the state government to levy entry fee in Janeshwar Mishra Park, just like Lohia Park. The proposal has been accepted and will soon come into effect. However, the amount is yet to be decided.

According to an LDA official, the development authority had carried out a survey with the help of security guards deployed at four gates of the park to reach an estimated figure of visitors on all seven days of the week.

There are four entry gates for visitors at Janeshwar Mishra Park – one, two, four and seven. After a week- long survey, it was found that the maximum number of 8,400 people visited the park on Sunday.

On remaining days, the figure hovered around 4,000 to 5,000 visitors.

“Janeshwar Mishra Park is a big facility and is not easy to maintain. It requires a lot of fund to maintain even basic amenities at this sprawling park,” said an LDA official.

“Funds generated from the entry fee will help in maintaining the park. This step will also keep unwanted visitors away ,” added the official. Janeshwar Mishra Park was among the dream projects of former CM Akhilesh Yadav. The park, spread on 376 acres, was inaugurated on August 5, 2014.
