NIGHT TEMP PLUMMETS

LUCKNOW:The night temperatur­e plummeted once again to 18 degree Celsius on Sunday. A day before on Saturday, it was 24.5 degrees Celsius and on Friday it was 25.6 degrees (7.5 degrees above normal).

The day temperatur­e was 35.3 degrees Celsius which was 3 degrees above normal. Difference of 18 degrees Celsius between day and night temperatur­e means people must take extra caution.

“The low pressure area that was prevailing over Uttar Pradesh has now moved to the NorthEast. This has resulted in drop in the night temperatur­e. From now on, there will be gradual drop in minimum temperatur­e heralding the beginning of winter,” said JP Gupta, director met department. The met department has predicted clear sky with maximum and minimum temperatur­earound 34 and 18 degrees Celsius respective­ly for Monday. As the sky is clear, the night temperatur­e will dip.

Meerut and Muzaffarna­gar were coldest in the state with minimum temperatur­e at 14.7 degrees Celsius. Najibabad recorded 17 degrees Celsius .

Doctors it was time people were on their guard, as the weather was changing. “It’s time people, the elderly in particular, delay their morning walk a bit so that the chill does not harm them,” said Dr Sandeep Kapoor, director, Healthcity Hospital and Trauma Centre, Gomti Nagar. He said the difference in day and night time temperatur­e should not be ignored by those suffering with respirator­y distress.
