UPH to conduct trials on Oct 25 & 26

LUCKNOW : It’s going to be some hectic activities for hockey, especially for 5-a-side national championsh­ips as Uttar Pradesh Hockey has chalked out two days of selection trials to pick the teams.

Trials to pick women team will take place on Wednesday, at the Major Dhyan Chand stadium in Jhansi at 8.00 am.

The selected team would travel to Pune for the national championsh­ip, starting November 5.

The men’s team trials are slated at the Padmashri Mohd Shahid stadium here on Thursday at 7.00 am. The men’s 5-aside senior national championsh­ip also begins on November 14 at Pune.

WEEKLY BRIDGE

Pair of Shantanu Rastogi and B Prasad earned 65.87 percent points to win the match point pairs event at the weekly bridge tournament, at the Lucknow Club here.

In all eight pairs played seven rounds of three boards each and Rastogi and Prasad won with a margin of one and a half boards and with a very good score.

They had nine tops, four above average scores and two zeros in their score. VK Tiwari-GN Mehrotra (58.73%) and SH Zaheer-SA Abbasi (53.17%) finished second and third, respective­ly.

PAWAN EXCELS

Pawan Batham with 4.5 points emerged victorious in the open category of the Avijai chess tournament here on Sunday.

Alok Verma and Rajesh Srivastava stood second and third, respective­ly.

In under-16 category Preeti stood top, whereas in the under-12 category, Saksham Mishra finished top. NEW DELHI:
