Kin throws 3 minor sisters out of moving train, 1 dead

LUCKNOW: Three sisters, aged between 4 and 9 years, were thrown out of the moving Amritsar-Saharsa Express, allegedly by a family member, in Sitapur during the wee hours of Tuesday.

While one of the girls succumbed to her injuries, the other two suffered critical injuries and are undergoing treatment in Sitapur district hospital.

The reason for the horrible act was not known till last reports came in. According to reports, the girls remained unattended for several hours on the spot where they were thrown.

The girls -- Algun Khatoon (9), Muniya (7) and Shamim (4) – are residents of Motihari, Bihar. While Muniya was found dead, Algun suffered multiple fractures in hand and hip-joint and Shamim received head injuries.

Inspector general, Government Railway Police, Lucknow, Binod Kumar Singh said the eldest sister (Algun), who is able to talk a little bit, said she had been thrown out of the train by her father, Iddu.

But later she alleged that her uncle pushed them out of the train. Singh said two sisters were found alongside the railway track under Ramkot police station area and the third one was found in the area under Manpur police station of Sitapur.

He said the case was being handled by the Sitapur police but the GRP team was in continuous touch with them.

“Motihari police have been approached to track the girls’ family and know the truth. A probe in the matter is going on,” he added.

Rajendra Sharma, station officer of Ramkot police station in Sitapur, told Hindustan Times that the first informatio­n about a girl lying alongside the railway track near Bhavanipur village was received at around 3am on Tuesday.

“While we reached the spot and recovered the youngest sister (Shamim), news came about the eldest sister (Algun) lying alongside the railway track near Goregaon village. Informatio­n about the third sister (deceased Muniya) came later in the day on Tuesday,” he said.

Sharma said Muniya was found lying dead alongside the railway track in Manpur, near Sitapur town area, about 50 km from the spot Shamim was found.

Sharma said it was later establishe­d that all three victims were sisters and were thrown out of the moving train by a family member. He said the incident happened when the girls’ family was moving from Amristar to Motihari.
