Cops clueless about doctor’s mysterious death, preserve viscera for probe
LUCKNOW: Post-mortem examination could not reveal the reason behind the mysterious death of Dr Meesam Rizvi, 40, anaesthetist in KK Hospital, who was found dead in his car on the Gomti Bridge in Thakurganj police area on Monday morning.
Doctors have preserved the viscera for further examination to ascertain the cause of death but the police suspected overdose of anaesthesia behind the doctor’s death.
Inspector of Thakurganj police station, Deepak Dubey said no clear reason has been mentioned in the postmortem report.
The inspector, however, said primary examination of the body suggested that the doctor had died due to overdose of anaesthesia.
He said a vigo (used to inject intravenous fluid in body) was found inserted in the doctor’s left hand when his body was found in the car.
Dubey said multiple doses of anaesthesia and two used syringes were also found from the car that hinted that he himself took its dose or somebody else injected him.
He said the police are probing on both the lines and requested the forensic experts to conduct the viscera examination on priority basis to unravel the mystery behind the doctor’s death.
Earlier, the doctor had left home on Monday morning to drop his daughter, a student of Class 4, to La Martiniere Girls’ College.
Later, some passersby spotted the doctor lying unconscious in his car on the Gomti Bridge, next to Pucca Pul, and alerted the local police about it.
He was rushed to the Trauma Centre, KGMU, where doctors declared him brought dead.
His identity was ascertained with the help of the vehicle’s papers recovered from the car and his family members were informed about the incident.
