Lucknow ATC manages show professionally, no delay in civil flights
LUCKNOW: The air traffic controllers (ATCs) of Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) here successfully conducted the one of its kind aircraft touchdown exercise on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway on Tuesday.
Two female officers from the Indian Air Force, Bakshi Ka Talab station, reached the Air Traffic Control office of CCSIA to accompany the controllers for the exercise.
AK Sharma, director, CCSIA, was present at the airport since morning with other senior airport officials to monitor the landing of 17 Air Force aircrafts at the expressway. The ATCs were also present at the airport since morning as the exercise was supposed to begin at 10am. Sharma said, “CCSIA has emerged as one of the most important airports of the country for such operations. It’s an honour for the airport that such an exercise is being held here and we have the privilege of monitoring the movements of the aircrafts.” He appreciated the ATCs for their efficient performance during the over 3 hour-long exercise. During the exercise, simultaneous movement of fighters and scheduled civil aircraft were handled in an orderly and expeditious manner.
The CCSIA had a daily traffic of around 180 flights and none of the flights were delayed due to the exercise, said Sharma. “This happened only because of our vigilant and efficient controllers,” said Sharma.
