DGP warns officers against shoddy probe
ALLAHABAD State police chief Sulkhan Singh has warned of strict action against circle officers and investigating officers in instances of faulty and shoddy investigation.
The director general of police issued this warning to police personnel across the state through a recently issued circular. The circular was issued after receiving several complaints of anomalies in investigations, many times made deliberately to help an accused, a senior police official said.
Inspector general of police, Allahabad range, Ramit Sharma has forwarded the circular to all police stations of the range spread across Allahabad, Kaushambi and Pratapgarh districts. Circle officers have been especially instructed to remain alert during investigations of cases handed over to them. All investigations are carried out under the supervision of circle officers.
Stress has been laid on fair investigations as senior police officials have often been summoned to courts due to mistakes by their subordinates.
In a recent incident, a Government Railway Police sub-inspector removed Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to murder) in a case after investigation.
The complainant approached the court, after which a senior police official was summoned for clarification.
Sharma said fair and honest investigation led to conviction in courts.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath recently chaired a law and order review meeting in the state capital and asked senior police officials to ensure a crackdown on criminals across the state.
