Students unhappy over AKTU convocation registration fee
LUCKNOW: Now graduating engineering students of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University will have to pay up to Rs 10,000 as registration fees for attending the 15th convocation of the university to be held on December 12.
This amount includes cost of the academic regalia which graduating students will carry home with them, lunch packets for 2 persons and cost of group photograph to be clicked during convocation with chief guest.
The registration will begin from November 1 and it will be held in four rounds. But there’s a catch.
If graduating students get themselves registered in the first round, they will have to spend much less.
The first round of registration will be held between November 1 to December 1 wherein student will have to pay only Rs 750. In the second round, between December 2 and 6, students will have to pay Rs 2000, in third round between December 7 to 9, the fees will be Rs 3000 and between December 10 and 11 Rs 10,000.
The students are not happy with this arrangement and say university cannot tax its students like this.
But university vice chancellor Vinay Kuamr Pathak has a different argument.
“We want graduating students to register themselves in the first round where the fees is only Rs 750 including lunch for 2 persons, cost of academic regalia and other charges,” he says.
