NCR’s Alld division gears up for Kumbh
ALLAHABAD : Allahabad division of North Central Railway (NCR) has begun preparations for Kumbh 2019. This includes overall development of Allahabad junction at a cost of Rs 126.70 crore to make it of international standards. Efforts are on to complete the important projects before the commencement of the mega religious event.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Allahabad division, SK Pankaj shared these views at a press conference on Wednesday.
He said four enclosures with advance facilities were being constructed at Allahabad junction and three at Naini for the convenience of pilgrims.
The enclosures being built at the junction would have capacity to accommodate 3000 pilgrims at a time, he added.
In addition, a total 140 ticket counters would be opened for hassle-free ticketing for pilgrims. These include 63 ticket counters at Allahabad junction, 38 at Naini station, 25 at Cheoki station, four at Vindhyanchal station and 10 in Sangam area, said DRM.
He said 20 enquiry counters including seven at Allahabad junction, six at Naini station, three at Cheoki, and two each at Vindhyanchal and Sangam area would also be set up during the Kumbh to facilitate pilgrims.
The DRM said that 50 mela special trains with 20 coaches each would also be run on the significant bathing days of Kumbh.
“We have asked railways to provide 2000 additional staff to ensure smooth functioning during the event. This will be in addition to 5000 NCR staff,” he said.
The NCR administration had also undertaken a task of widening Foot over Bridge (FOB) No 2 from 6mt to 12mt at the junction which would be completed soon.
WASHABLE APRON IN RECORD TIME
North Central Railway (NCR) has created a new yardstick by completing construction of washable apron at Tundla station 18 days ahead of the time that is normally taken in commissioning any such work.
