Satakshi bags a golden double

LUCKNOW: Young Satakshi Tiwari caused the biggest-ever upset at the AITA Talent Series only in the finals here on Friday when she wrested both the under-14 and under-12 titles in the girls section in style.

Playing quite aggressive­ly, Satakshi first shocked top seed Sasa Katiyar 6-3, 6-3 in the under-14 singles final, before outplaying the same rival in the under-12 final by 6-3, 6- 2, at the Vijayantkh­and stadium.

Sasa had some consolatio­n when she bagged the girls undere-14 doubles title. While pairing with Kalpana Kumari, she defeated the pair of Gargi Das and Yati Besain 1-6, 6- 2 and 10-8.

In the boys under-14 final top seed Vansh Yadav defeated third seed Daksh Kumar Singh 7-6 (2), 6-3, whereas top seed Arjun Sharma had the under-12 title, brushing aside Siddharth Yadav 6-2, 6-0.

Under-14 boys doubles title went to Vansh Yadav and Ambitious Goldsmith, who defeated Naman Mehta and Parth Ratra 6-2, 6-2.

STATE BASKETBALL

Suparsh Awasthi Memorial Mini Under-14 B League State Basketball Championsh­ip begins Saturday, at the Amity University campus here in Gomti Nagar.

In all 20 teams of both boys and girls from all parts of the state have confirmed their participat­ion.

SHUBHAM EXCELS

Shubham Vishwakarm­a hammered an unbeaten 141 in 146 balls with the help of 20 fours and two sixes as ASCA ‘C’ trounced ASCA ‘A’ by 74 runs in a league match of the Thakur Uttam Singh Memorial cricket tournament. ASCA ‘C’ made 266/7 while batting first after winning the toss, and in reply, ASCA A got out for 192 in 49.3 overs.
