Six suspended for failure to check illegal mining

CM IN ACTION Four SHOs and two mining officers suspended; DM, SP warned

LUCKNOW: Cracking the whip on errant officers, chief minister Yogi Adityanath ordered on Sunday suspension of four station house officers (SHOs) and two mining inspectors for their failure to check illegal mining in Gonda .

LUCKNOW: Cracking the whip on errant officers, chief minister Yogi Adityanath ordered on Sunday suspension of four station house officers (SHOs) and two mining inspectors for their failure to check illegal mining in Gonda district.

Yogi also gave a warning in the matter to district magistrate of Gonda Jitendra Bahadur Singh and superintendents of police Umesh Kumar Singh as well as DM of Mau Rishirendra Kumar and SP Lalit Kumar Singh.

Departmental action was ordered against two sub divisional magistrates Nanhey Lal

and Amresh Maurya and two deputy superintendents of police Krishna Chandra Singh and Brahma Singh posted in Gonda as also against SDM Rajesh Kumar and DSP RaJ Kumar posted in Mau district.

The four Gonda SHOs, who have been suspended include

Sadananad, Manoj Rai, Ved Prakash Srivastava, Sunil Chandra Tiwari. Mining inspectors Jiendra Singh posted in Gonda and Vasistha Yadav have been also suspended.

Earlier on visit to Hamirpur on October 23, the CM had ordered suspension of two SHOs for their alleged involvement in illegal mining. Reviewing law and order, Yogi had ordered strict action against officers who were involved in illegal mining or were providing shelter to criminal elements running illegal mining racket.

It may be mentioned here that in an order dated July 28, 2016, the Allahabad High Court had directed the CBI to probe illegal mining being carried out across the state.

The CBI had selected Hamirpur, Shamli, Siddharth Nagar and Deoria for preliminary probe. On Friday, the High Court directed the CBI to expedite the probe and submit its report earliest.
