NBRI, Avadh varsity ink pact on research activities
LUCKNOW :CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow and Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya Avadh University, Faizabad will now work closely in terms of research and academic activities.
Both NBRI and Avadh University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 25, under which NBRI scientists and faculty members of Avadh University will work on joint research projects by mutually using each other’s expertise.
As per the MoU, while registering NBRI students for PhD degree in Avadh University, the ordinance related to PhD degree of the university would be applicable, said Prof Manoj Dixit, vice chancellor of the university.
The students and researchers of CSIR-NBRI shall be required to qualify the entrance examination for registration of PhD as per the norms of Avadh University, Faizabad, the MoU reads.
Avadh University will recognise and accept NBRI scientists as supervisor/ co-supervisor (as applicable) for PhD degree. One faculty member of the concerned shall be co-supervisor/ supervisor (as applicable) with the student of CSIR-NBRI registered with Avadh University. The university’s board of studies will decide supervisor and co-supervisor for the students as applicable. NBRI scientists may participate in the teaching programme plant biotechnology, botany microbiology, biochemistry, environmental sciences etc of Avadh University subject to mutual convenience.
As per the MoU, the faculty and students of Avadh University would be able to use library of NBRI and the library facilities at Avadh University would also be open to NBRI scientist, said Jaswant Singh, head of the environmental sciences department of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University.
For the mutual benefit of both the institution, there will be exchange of NBRI scientists and faculty members of the various departments of Avadh University. NBRI and Avadh University scientists/ faculty members will help each other in preparing common research programmes.
NBRI and Avadh University will work closely to generate appropriately trained manpower in related areas through organisation of formal academic curricula, symposia, short term training courses etc.
