Denied intimacy, man pours acid on wife’s genitals

KANPUR: A woman, whose husband poured acid onto her genitals after she refused to have physical intimacy with him, is battling for life in Kannuaj district hospital. The woman, who has been married to the accused for seven years, has two children together.

KANPUR: A woman, whose husband poured acid onto her genitals after she refused to have physical intimacy with him, is battling for life in Kannuaj district hospital.

“Her condition is critical,” said doctors on Tuesday. The woman, who has been married to the accused for seven years, has two children together.

Her father Kedar Singh has lodged an FIR against her husband Ved Pal, his brother Ajay Pal and his wife at the Tirva police station. In her brief statement given to the police, the victim said Ved Pal beat her up on Sunday inside the house. With the help of others he poured some chemical, possibly acid, into her genitals.

She or family members have not given any reason for her estrangement with Ved Pal, who was furious at being denied physical intimacy, according to the FIR.Preliminary police probe corroborate the couple had a fight outside the house on Sunday and the victim was assaulted. The husband and others left the house and the father learnt about her co ndition from neighbours who cal led him up. He rushed from Saurikh, a nearby town and admitted his daughter to the hospital.

The doctors said there were serious burn on the genitals and thighs.

“The case has been registered and the police were trying to arrest persons named in the

FIR. We are trying to ascertain the nature of chemical used in the crime,” said
