Ease of doing business: State to set up commercial courts

LUCKNOW :Uttar Pradesh cabinet decided on Tuesday to set up commercial courts to give a further push to India’s objective of being on the World Bank’s list of top 50 countries in the index for ease of doing business.

India has jumped to 100th place in the WB’s ranking of countries for ease of doing business for 2018 in its recent report. The World Bank in its last year’s report had placed India on 130th place.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the meeting of state cabinet that decided to set up the courts in 13 districts in the first phase.

These courts will be set up under the provisions of The Commercial Courts, Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division of High Courts Act-2015.

The cabinet also decided to set up a social media hub at the Lok Bhawan (new chief minister’s secretaria­t) here to take government’s achievemen­ts, policies and schemes to the people. The Broadcast Engineerin­g Consultant­s India Limited (BESIL) has been nominated as the agency for setting up the hub on the pattern of the union government’s hub working at Suchana Bhawan in New Delhi.

BLACK BUCK RESERVE

A proposal to declare a Black Buck Conservati­on Reserve on about 126 hectare land in Meja forest range of Allahabad was also approved. This has been done under the provisions of Wild Life Conservati­on Act1972.

VIABILITY GAP FUND

The cabinet approved a proposal to sanction Viability Gap Fund (VGF) of about Rs 300 crore to promoter during the period of constructi­on of Muzaffarna­gar-Saharanpur via Deoband road as decided by an empowered committee of union government on December 23, 2014.

SAW MILLS RULES

The cabinet approved Uttar Pradesh Saw Mills (establishm­ent and regulation) (sixth amendment) Rules 2017 that provide for giving licence, transfer of names and place and ensure expeditiou­s disposal of problems of wood industry. The rules provide for giving new licence or renewal of licence of saw mills by a state level committee without fixing any fees. The committee will have representa­tives of the industry. An official spokesman said the decision would ensure remunerati­ve prices of wood like eucalyptus to the farmers.
