GORAKHPUR: They may not be ‘secret superstars’ but their debut musical video is certainly making waves online.

Meet Rishi, Adnan, Rishabh and Saurabh, all students who have come up with ‘Shehar Mera Gorakhpur’ — a anthem dedicated to the city.

The three-minute long rap video, composed, sung and shot by them, is turning out to be a big hit on YouTube with more than 25,000 views in just around a month.

Titled ‘Gorakhpur Anthem’, the video features Gorakhpur’s famous places like Gorakhnath temple, Geeta Press, Ramgarh tal, Gorakhpur railway station and ‘Wall of change’, a local attraction where people write social messages. Gorakhpur had been CM Yogi Adiyanath’s Lok Sabha constituency until recently.

The video has been shot on mobile phone. “In fact, tunes have also been composed using an app call Google Guru,” said Rishi, who is the main lyricist. While Rishi and Saurabh aka Sabby have sung it, Adnan provides the chorus and music composed by Rishabh aka Rythmic Sam.

“Is shehar me khas har bande ka junoon, Nasoen me daurta hai ubalta hua khoon .... Dil rakhtey hain saaf jaise spill proof glass ...” best described the nature and mood of the locals, claimed Adnan.

Of the four, except Rythmic Sam, three group members are students of Class 12.So where did the idea came from?

“We wanted to do something through which the city could get wider recognition. Nothing else could have attracted a wider audience,” said Rishi.

Surprisingly, their family members were unaware of their work and came to know only when the video got the unexpected response. While none of the four have taken formal training in music, they are now planning to come up with more such videos. “Seeing the youth dancing to our tunes is a great experience,” they claim.
