All Lucknow hospitals on high alert
LUCKNOW : All hospitals of the state capital were put on high alert following the NTPC Unchahar incident.
Rakesh Kapoor, director of the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), said he received a call from the CMO to reserve some beds for the patients of the Rae Bareli incident.
“Though there is no dedicated burn ward in the PGI but we cannot show our back when there is a need to treat the injured,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Balrampur Hospital deployed a team of doctors and nurses for the treatment of the patients arriving from the NTPC Unchahar.
In all, 25 beds have been reserved in the Balrampur Hospital, 50 in Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital, 30 in the Trauma Centre KGMU and 10 in the SGPGIMS.
Chandan Kumar of Bihar was fully burnt. He along with Virendra, Shambhu Yadav, Arvind, Ajay Mehta, Ram Ratan and Nagesh was admitted to the Civil Hospital. The emergency staff of hospital were on the alert.
Meanwhile, CMO Dr GS Bajpai reached the hospital when the patients arrived at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital.
“I am monitoring the treatment given to the patients, the doctors of plastic surgery, medicine, and general surgery have been called to treat the patients. They have been asked to stay in the hospital till further orders as number of patients may rise,” he said.
“We have sent 50 ambulances to Unchahar for transporting patients to Lucknow,” he added.
In the medical college too, a team led by chief medical superintendent SN Shankhwar was ready and started treating patients as soon as they reached
the hospital.
Dr Ashutosh Dubey, medical superintendent of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital, said condition of three patients brought to hospital was critical.
