1,425 SEEK BJP TICKET IN ALLAHABAD

-

ALLAHABAD : For the upcoming civic polls in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party has received the maximum number of applications from aspirants wanting to fight for the corporator’s post from 80 wards in Allahabad.

As per the party sources, the applications of over 1,425 candidates have been received, which means on an average 17-18 candidates have applied from each of the 80 wards. Now, the party leaders have a tough task ahead of choosing one name for each of the 80 wards. Around 350 people have applied for the corporator’s post from City West, 575 from City North and around 500 from City South. The party members say that it’s for the first time that so many candidates showed interest in contesting the local body election on BJP’s ticket. “Most of the candidates want to ride the Modi and Yogi wave. But it would be their dedication towards work that would determine their fate. Moreover, the party wants to give ticket to only eligible candidates who could work efficiently during Kumbh and Smart City projects,” said a party insider on condition of anonymity. The party would most likely declare the names for Mayor and corporator’s post in a day or two. On the other hand the candidates wanting to get ticket are either camping in Delhi or Lucknow to meet the senior party leaders. Some candidates claim that they want to contest from BJP as the party is both in the state and centre and this would help in addressing the complaints of people effectively. Mayor Allahabad Abhilasha Gupta Nandi said the corporators continuously remain in touch with residents and so they know their problems better and how to deal with it and so “The party will give tickets to only efficient candidates,” she added.

THOSE WANTING TICKET ARE CAMPING IN DELHI OR LUCKNOW TO MEET THE SENIOR PARTY LEADERS.
