KANPUR: Six people, including two minor children and a woman, were killed when the car in which they were travelling hit the divider near Kannauj on AgraLucknow Expressway on Sunday.

The car overturned several times after colliding with the divider and thereafter caught fire. Four people were burnt alive and two others died of excessive bleeding and internal injuries. The police identified the victims through a mobile phone found with one of the victims.

The family travelling in the car was of one Anand Kumar Soni of Sivan in Bihar. His wife Khushboo, 36, son Aryan, 2, and daughter Rajo, 1, were killed in the accident. Two of his neighbours Vinay Nath and Abhay Nath were also killed.

Harish Chandra, SP Kannauj, said the car hit the divider around 2.30 am on Sunday before it caught fire near Saurikh. Passersby informed the local police and the state control room about the accident.

The police found the bodies of Rajo and Vinay on road while others were found charred inside the car. “We found the charred bodies, it was horrific,” said a police officer. The car belonged to Anand’s uncle Raj Kishore.
