Petition filed against BJP leader for ‘slander’
MEERUT :A petition has been filed here in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) against national spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party Anil Baloni for allegedly making false allegations and derogatory remarks against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi during a debate on a TV news channel. The channel head has also been named in the petition.
The petitioner Rikin Ahluwalia who is a local Congress leader says that the charges have been framed under sections 294, 504 and 505 via petition number 7905/17 filed in the court of CJM here on Friday.
The Indian Penal Code sections 294, 504 and 505 are for using obscene words, intentional insult with intention to provoke breach of peace and statements conducing to public mischief.
Rikin is presently associated with the Facebook page of the Congress and is a former Sewa Dal district president.
According to him, recently during a debate on a news channel BJP’s national spokesperson Anil Baloni had used some derogatory words for the Congress president and vice president and made false and baseless allegations on the television.
Raising strong objections to it, Rikin decided to fight a legal battle while considering it an attempt to malign the image of their top party leaders. For this he also got the support of his party here.
Party’s spokesperson Hari Krishan Verma blamed Bharatiya Janata Party for making such statements only for political gains.
