Lucknow paddler Divyansh achieves yet another success

LUCKNOW: Lucknow’s paddler Divyansh Srivastava has added yet another feather of success in his cap, winning a silver and a bronze medal at the ITTF World Junior Circuit India Juniro and Cadet Open (premium) at Noida.

A trainee of Yogendra Agarwal at the Northern Railway Table Tennis Academy here, Divyansh, who already has junior national title, went on winning silver in the Hopes boys singles. After beating a Sri Lankan in the quarterfin­al 3-0, Divyansh went on beating Arnav Agarwal of India 3-0 in the semi-final, before losing to another Indian Priyesh in the final 2-3. His bronze came in the cadet boys team event, when his India C lost to India B 1-3. Divyansh’s achievemen­t also means big to the Uttar Pradesh Table Tennis Associatio­n.

COLLEGE CRICKET

National PG College ‘Red and JNPG College made it to the final of the 19th CB Gupta Memorial Inter Collegiate cricket tournament, notching up contrastin­g wins, at the CB Gupta ground here on Sunday. Sherwood College conceded the match to the NPGC Red, whereas JNPGC beat Vidyant PG College by four wickets.

EASY WIN

Himalayan Cricket Club scored 10-wicket win against Paramount Cricket Club to collect full points in the 2nd Neelam Devi Memorial Veterans cricket tournament, at the Lucknow Christian college ground here on Sunday.

After restrictin­g PCC for paltry 60/8 in 18 overs, HCC romped home in seven overs without losing a wicket. Saurabh Bhalla struck unbeaten 30 with the help of five fours and a six.

ELECTED

Dr M Subramaniy­um Swami and Anandeshwa­r Pandey were on Sunday re-elected president and secretary, respective­ly of the Handball Federation of India at its annual general meeting, at the UP Badminton Academy here. Conduct of the Asian Men’s Club Handball League (Nov 20-30 at Hyderabad) would be top of the agenda of the newly elected HFI office-bearers.

OPEN CHESS

Pawan Batham finished top in the open category of the Avijai Chess Tournament here on Sunday. He scored full five points, pushing KK Khare and Aman Agarwal to the second and third position, respective­ly. Anubhav Singh in under-16 and Atharva Rastogi in under-12 category won titles.
