‘NITI AAYOG COMES UP WITH IDEAS, IMPLEMENTS THEM’

LUCKNOW: Vice chairman of Niti Aayog Rajiv Kumar said here on Thursday that the erstwhile Planning Commission formulated plans and allocated resources but the Niti Aayog came up with new ideas and also implemented them in all states.

Addressing the gathering at an interactive session, ‘State of Indian Economy’, organised by the Lucknow Management Association, Kumar said: “Niti Aayog closely works with states in improving delivery systems, sets up developmental targets of states and reviews them periodically for proper implementation. This has not been done before.”

Outlining the role of Niti Aayog, Kumar said: “Niti Aayog not only develops new ideas but also ensures their proper implementation across all states, while the erstwhile planning commission only formulated plans and allocated resources.”

On the country’s economy, he said it was improving since July last. “Economic growth has gone up to 6.2 % and is expected to touch 6.8% in the current quarter and 8 % next year,” Kumar said.

“This government has changed rules. There is more transparency in the system and e- tendering has been introduced. We are moving towards a cleaner economy ,” said Kumar.
