LUCKNOW : Uttar Pradesh, the heartland of the country, has attracted a lot of investment from Holland. A plant to convert organic waste into diesel and petrol is coming up in Sitapur with Dutch investment of Rs 1,200 crore. Also Holland is going to give a grant of Euros 2.3 million in sustainable water fund programme (FDW), while it will invest 2.5 million Euros in giving technology to Kanpur tanneries to keep the Ganga clean.

Dutch ambassador Alphonsus Stoelinga said here on Monday that Indo-Dutch relations were touching a new high with the MOU of July 2016 signed by the previous Samajwadi party government, which serves as the basis for cooperation in agriculture , water management and smart city development.

The ambassador said he would meet chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday with the delegation of 10 companies to increase cooperation between the two countries. He said he was hopeful of getting full support from the UP government in establishing a food park in Moradabad, milk plant in Kanpur dehat and construction of roads with new technology which was cheaper and stronger.

He said because of increasing cooperation between UP and Holland, the Dutch honorary council had been opened in Lucknow and Sharad Thadani would be the first person from any country to hold the position of honorary consul in UP.

Two programmes under IndoDutch partnership were inaugurated on Monday. The first was a joint cooperation between Dutch NGO PUM and Tasty Dairy to set up Centre of Excellence in dairy sector. Under this project, the dairy farmers would be trained to set up model farms. Initially, training would be imparted to 6,000 farmers.

The other was launch of public private partnership to clean river Ganga.

“The project is aimed at reducing the use of water and bring down contamination by introducing new technologies in tanneries and leather industry. The project is led by Solidaridad Network Asia, a Dutch organization,” said Stoelinga.

In this project, leather stakeholders , Central Leather Research Institute and Council For Leather Exports would be roped in to check Ganga pollution.
