LUCKNOW: In the sensational murder of 28-year old Martina Gupta, police have arrested her two brothers on Monday after the probe indicated their involvement in the murder along with their father, who was already in the police custody.

Martina’s father, Rakesh Babu Gupta, was arrested on Sunday. Ajeet and Yash, two brothers of the deceased, were arrested on Monday following the probe which indicated their involvement in the crime.

Martina was found dead with five bullet wounds in a room at her residence in Eldeco Udyan-II colony under PGI police area on November 11 morning.

Rakesh Gupta was arrested after a police complaint was lodged by victim’s mother Malti Gupta about her daughter’s murder following which an FIR under IPC section 302 was lodged with the PGI police station.

Gupta had shot dead his daughter in a fit of rage. The police said Gupta committed the crime with his licensed pistol which had already been seized for forensic examination.

Cops, however, were sure that other family members were also involved in the crime. According to inspector, PGI, Arun Kumar Rai, on Saturday (November 11) morning Rakesh

Babu Gupta fired three gun shots on Martina on her chest and stomach.

After hearing gun shots, two brothers of the girl, Ajeet and Yash also reached there. Thereafter, all three of them decided to portray the murder as suicide.

“To execute the plan, Ajeet fired two more gun shots on Martina’s right temple from his father’s pistol,” said Rai. However, the trio was still worried about being caught.

In a bid to conceal the crime and dump the body at a secluded place, the trio moved around the city in a four-wheeler for two hours. However, they could not dispose of the body.

With no option left, they took the body to Trauma Centre, KGMU, at around 10am where doctors declared Martina brought dead and sent the body for the post-mortem examination.

The incident occurred at around 8am on November 11 but Martina’s father and her two brothers kept on hiding the matter till the doctors at the KGMU’s trauma centre sent the body for autopsy at around 2.30pm.

Cops at the KGMU’s police outpost informed the PGI police station about it when they spotted bullet wounds on the girl’s body. To conceal the crime, the family had stated that the girl had committed suicide but could not justify how she shot herself five times.

Martina was an MBA and was preparing for banking services. The family wanted to marry her off but the girl wanted to marry a person of her choice. The issue had often led to dispute within the family and had soured relations between the father and daughter.
