Suicide attempt in front of Vidhan Bhawan foiled

LUCKNOW: Three members of a family from Unnao district tried to commit suicide in front of Vidhan Bhawan here on Monday, in protest against police inaction in the rape and murder of their minor daughter.

Aggrieved members of the family – husband, wife and daughter- -reached Vidhan Bhawan on Monday afternoon . As they poured kerosene on themselves , police personnel present on the spot apprehended them.

The family members were taken to the Hazratganj police station and later sent back to home . They belong to an area under Kotwali police station in Unnao.

The family lives on the ground floor of a rented accommodation and three youths live on the first floor .

Father of the deceased girl informed cops that on September 24 , his 12-year old daughter went to the roof top in the morning to study.

The youths gang raped her and killed her.

However, cops at the Kotwali police station rebuked him when he went to lodge a complaint.

Abhay Kumar Mishra, circle officer, Hazratganj, informed that the Unnao police had been apprised of the incident and directed to take appropriate action.
