SEC holds meet with observers before first phase voting

LUCKNOW: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday held a meeting with the observers ahead of the first phase voting for civic polls in 24 districts on November 22, sensitizin­g them on the need for the measures needed to be taken for fair and free polls.

Presiding over the meeting, state election commission­er SK Agrawal asked observers to obtain from the district magistrate­s the lists of hyper sensitive plus polling centres in the districts going to polls in the first phase. He told observers to ensure video-recording/webcasting of all such polling centres and also make sure that a tablet/ laptop and an electricit­y connection was available there.

He also asked them to use various apps developed by the commission this time, like reporting and deployment of the staff.

The commission has appointed 75 observers, one each for as many districts in the state.
