THE COACH

Alexandre Guimaraes led Mumbai City FC to their best finish in the ISL in his first year. They reached the semi-finals after topping the group stage. They were beaten just thrice under the 1990 World Cupper from Costa Rica. Guimaraes’ has coached Costa Ricas national team and led them past the qualifying stages of 2002 and the 2006 World Cups. He has also coached Costa Rican clubs Belen FC and Herediano before a successful stint at Saprissa, another top Costa Rican club.
