Bill Gates to meet CM Yogi on Friday

LUCKNOW: Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates will meet CM Yogi Adityanath on November 17. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation had partnered with the UP government for improving delivery of health services, said principal secretary, information, Awanish Awasthi while confirming the meeting. The talks are expected to focus on Microsoft’s role in generating job opportunities for youth by setting up software technology facility in the state.

LUCKNOW: Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates will meet chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday (November 17).

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation had partnered with the UP government for improving delivery of health services, said principal secretary, information, Awanish Awasthi while confirming the meeting.

“He (Bill Gates) will be meeting the UP CM on Friday to discuss the work being undertaken by his foundation in the state,” Awasthi told HT.

The talks are expected to focus on Microsoft’s role in generating job opportunities for youth by setting up software technology facility in the state.

On November 9, the CM had constituted an eight-member group each for eight different sectors to identify areas and services which needed to be spruced up to make UP a modern state.

Each group will be headed by an officer of the secretary rank. The eight sectors that have been identified initially, include, nutrition, health education, rural development, water and sanitation, Irrigation, water resources, Industries and Agriculture.

To fast track development and projects, the state has partnered with UNICEF, UNDP, WHO, Tata Trust, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Shiv Nadar Foundation in their respective areas of expertise.
