Close shave for BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj
AGRA: BJP MP from Unnao Sakshi Maharaj had a narrow escape when his SUV was hit by a milk tanker in Etah on Tuesday. Additional superintendent of police, Etah, said three people, including Sakshi Maharaj, his driver Ashok Kumar and a local resident Gajendra, who was riding a motorcycle, were injured in the incident. The tanker driver has been arrested.
AGRA: BJP MP from Unnao Sakshi Maharaj had a narrow escape when his SUV was hit by a milk tanker in Etah on Tuesday morning, police said.
Additional superintendent of police (ASP), Etah, said the tanker’s driver Rajendra Singh, a resident of Kosma in Mainpuri district, had been arrested on the complaint of MP’s driver Ashok Kumar.
“The tanker driver said he had been driving continuously for the last three days and fell asleep losing control over the tanker which moved on the wrong side of the divider,” the ASP said. “Three people, including Sakshi Maharaj, his driver Ashok Kumar and a local resident Gajendra, who was riding a motorcycle, were injured in the incident,” the ASP said. Sakshi Maharaj, who sustained minor injury in the incident, doubted the intention of the driver who hit his stationary car.
The milk tanker also hit a motor cycle before stopping on the wrong side of divider.
Sakshi Maharaj was going to his ashram in Etah from New Delhi. “My stationary car was dragged by the tanker for about 35 metres. It appears the driver intended to cause harm to me,” the MP claimed.
