LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has started door-to-door survey in selected wards of the city to link the properties with Aadhaar.

Caritas Eco Systems Private Limited, the consultant appointed by the LMC, has already completed a drone-based survey of the properties in areas selected as a pilot project. First the door-to-door survey was conducted in Hazratganj ward.

Additional municipal commissioner PK Srivastava said, “LMC has started the exercise to link each property with Aadhaar and integrate it with database of other departments/agencies. The step will help bring transparency in the whole process. The system will also help the public to view their property data online, request property information update, pay their property tax online and get their grievances redressed. The pilot project, if successful, may be extended to the entire city.”

Documents needed to be presented before the survey team verifying the properties are: Aaadhar card, property tax payment receipt and electricity bills.

The corporation aims to link all properties of the city with Aadhaar in the days to come.

This process would help LMC detect benami properties.

Srivastava said that as part of its plan to build capacity for urban development, LMC is working on improving efficiency of its property tax assessment and collection process.

Municipal commissioner Udairaj Singh told HT, “The key objective of the project is to improve the process of data collection and management. LMC will create a database by linking each property to a digital map.”
