Literature Fest day 1: Two books launched
LUCKNOW: Packed with political, poetic and cultural sessions, the 5th edition of the three-day Lucknow Literature Festival took off at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan here on Friday.
The city’s eminent personalities, including Padma Shree Runa Banerjee, Padma Shree Dr Mansoor Hasan, Padma Shree Raj Bisaria and major general Vibha Dutta inaugurated the fest, as ambassador of Costa Rica Mariela Cruz Alvarez, who was supposed to do the inauguration could not make it to the event.
‘The Vanishing Stripes’, a book authored by Jai Mohan and Akash Mohan was the first to be launched. The book deals with the dwindling numbers of tigers in the country.
It was followed by the launch of ‘Sibtainabad Through the Lens of Time’, that deals with the history of the 170-year-old Sibtainabad Imambada constructed by King Amjad Ali Shah, the fourth King of Awadh and completed by his son King Wajid Ali Shah. The book is a research work by Dr Sanobar Haider, assistant professor of history.
Ghazals and cultural programmes were the other attractions.
Other than the regular sessions, the fest also has a grand photo exhibition displaying several rare pictures of the monuments of Lucknow.
The gallery also has a separate section where the cut outs of the monuments of Lucknow are displayed.
