5 Sr citizens get Golden Age Yugpurush award
LUCKNOW: A seminar on ‘Old Age : Golden Evening of Life : Present Challenges and Solutions’ was organised at NRLC training Institute in Jankipuram by Guide Samaj Kalyan Sansthan on Sunday, to mark World Men’s Day .
Governor of West Bengal Keshrinath Tripathi was the chief guest , while justices Sudhir Chandra Varma and Kamleshwar Nath were special guests.
On the occasion, Tripathi gave Golden Age Yugpurush Award to justice Kamleshwar Nath, Dr Mansoor Hasan, Dr Anil Rastogi, SC Pant and Major VK Khare.
Justice Kamleshwar Nath, who is still working for the downtrodden at the age of 91,said, “I am still active in social work .” Saying he was happy at the recognition of his contribution to society, he called on youths to respect their elders as they would get from their kids what they gave to their parents.
Noted cardiologist Dr Mansoor Hasan said recognition of his contribution gave him extreme satisfaction and he would continue to serve humanity . “I have always tried to serve everyone, especially the senior citizens, to the best of my ability ,” he said.
Dr Anil Rastogi, a retired scientist of CDRI and noted theatre actor, said he had always been creative whether it was science or theatre and the recognition of his work gave him a lot of satisfaction. SC Pant and Major VK Khare who run old age home of LMC at Adil Nagar said that they would be more inspired now to work for the aged .
Sewa Gaurav Awards were given to to SC Sinha, Dr Manish Singh and PN Mehrotra , while Sewa Shiromani Samman was given to Ajay Kumar Singh. Sewa Ratna Saman went to Dr Saroj Kumar , Gaurav Prakash , Dr Satish Kumar , Rakhi Kishore and Swarngaan Music Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, Tripathi said , “Senior citizens are your intellectual property as they are always there to guide youths with their experience.” He said age should not be an inhibiting factor, as it was a mental state of mind. People must fight the circumstances and enjoy every moment of life. Indu Subhash of Guide Samaj Kalyan Sansthan said the 18000-180-0060 helpline for old age was receiving calls from senior citizens who needed help and her organization was reaching out to all who called.
