VARANASI: Mirzapur police have introduced a smart e-police leave management system to enable police personnel to apply for leave from their respective posting location using a mobile application.

Superintendent of police Ashish Tiwari said Mirzapur police were the first in the country to have an e-police leave management system.

The mobile application was developed by the SP and a software professional Nishant

Pandey from their own resources in two months.

The app has received a good response from policemen.

“Over 700 leave applications have been received on the app within a week. The

app is user friendly. Police personnel may download the app and create an account log in to apply for leave,” Tiwari said. A cop’s leave may not be sanctioned if more than 20 per cent personnel are already on leave. Earlier, policemen had to travel to district headquarters to apply for leave.

Sometimes, clerical staff members used to make a delay in forwarding applications to authorities concerned. “As soon as leave is sanctioned, the applicant will get to know it through a message. This system is completely paperless,” Tiwari said. There has been 5000 downloads of the app within a week. SP said that GRP appreciated the system and Pandey has to implement it in the GRP.
