Rahul’s elevation good for BJP: Yogi

GORAKHPUR: On the proposed elevation of Rahul Gandhi as Congress president, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said it was expected as the party believed in dynastic politics.

“With Rahul’s elevation, the BJP’s dream of a ‘Congressmukt India’ will become easier,” he said.

Earlier, the CM held a janta darbar at Gorakhnath Temple and listened to the grievances of residents.

Responding to SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s statement that Lord Ram was revered in UP only while Lord Krishna was worshipped throughout the country, Yogi said it was good that Mulayam at least remembered the Hindu gods.

“Had he imbibed the values of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia instead of using his name for politics, he would have never made such statements. Dr Lohia had great devotion for Ram, Krishna and Shiva,” Yogi said.

His comments came in the backdrop of SP’s plan to unveil a 50-feet high statue of Lord Krishna in Safai, the home town of Mulayam, in the run up to 2019 general election.

Addressing a rally in Mau, Adityanath said mafias would be sent directly to Yamraj (lord or death) to ensure development across the state by creating an environment for investors.

On whirlwind campaigning tour across the state, Yogi addressed poll rallies in Jaun-

pur, Ballia and Mau.

Yogi said, “Mafias must leave the state. If they (Mafias) don’t, they will directly go to the house of Yamraj. Owing to rule of goondas and Mafias, there has been no development in the state during last 15 years. Investors did not take interest in the state. Many industries closed down because of their fear. It led to rise in unemployment.”

He said that law and order improved across the state during the last eight months and the drive to eliminate mafias would be accelerated further.

He said that all 653 urban bodies would illuminate in light the way Ayodhya illuminated during Deepawali celebration. Each house would have a toilet by 2019 and each poor would get a house by 2022. “A project has been prepared to ensure development of all the districts, including Mau.”

Speaking in Ballia, Yogi blamed previous governments for downsizing the rights of urban bodies during their rule. He said the BJP government would give more rights to urban bodies in order to ensure proper development in urban areas.

In Jaunpur, he said that there will be efforts to provide international market to Imarti (a sweet) and itra (perfume). Imarti of Jaunpur is famous across the region.
