Tell passengers if trains are late: Rly board chief

LUCKNOW: Chairman, Railway Board (CRB) Ashwini Lohani’s maiden visit to the RDSO was all about maintainin­g transparen­cy and ensuring safety. Lohani directed the officials to maintain punctualit­y in the foggy weather and ensure more transparen­cy. He also inspected Charbagh railway station and took stock of the ongoing developmen­t work.

“Officials should try to maintain punctualit­y and should be more transparen­t with the passengers. If the trains are running late, the officers should tell them the status ,” he said .

He also directed the officials to keep passenger safety on their priority. RDSO presented the recently completed and ongoing projects and developmen­t works before the CRB , who also released a book titled “Guidelines on developmen­t of existing buildings to green buildings on Indian Railways” by RDSO. He also visited the Signal Lab, Brake-Dynamomete­r Lab and Metallurgi­cal and Chemical Lab of RDSO.

Prior to this, he inspected Charbagh railway station and reviewed the progress of the ongoing traffic and passenger facilities projects , interacted with the loco pilots, track maintenanc­e staff and coolies. He also conducted a safety focused inspection . He was accompanie­d by Vishwesh Chaube, general manager, Northern Railways, Satish Kumar, divisional railway manager (DRM) Northern Railways Lucknow, Vijay Laxmi Kaushik, divisional railway manager (DRM) North-Eastern Railways, Lucknow and senior divisional officers.

Besides an extensive inspection of station yard, he also examined the premises for the developmen­t of a second entry to Charbagh station.
