LUCKNOW: A 65-year-old retired staff nurse of King George Medical University was found murdered in her house in Trimurtinagar colony in Sarojininagar on Saturday evening.

The deceased Lucy Singh, had multiple injuries on her face and head that suggested that she was attacked with a blunt object.

The house was ransacked, indicating that the assailants murdered her on resisting loot. Police said there was no forced entry in the house and suspected involvement of a person familiar to her.

The deceased lived here alone after her retirement while her two sons, Abhishek and Akash, stayed separately in Lucknow and Delhi respectively.

The murder was discovered when a neighbour visited her house after not spotting her since Saturday afternoon and found her blood soaked body lying in the gallery. The circumstances suggested that she resisted the attempt on her life but the assailants chased her and hit her multiple times with a blunt object.

Police found a brick with blood stains near the body and a kitchen knife at the sink. The assailants apparently also stabbed her after battering her with the brick. A dog squad and forensic experts were called to the spot to examine the scene but so far cops have failed to get any breakthrough.

Station officer of Sarojininagar, Dharmesh Kumar Shahi said the body had been sent for postmortem examination after informing the victim’s kin.

He said an electronic surveillance team was also trying to retrieve mobile call records of the victim’s cell phone to know about frequent callers to her.
