RLY OFFICIAL MEETS INJURED PASSENGERS, ASSURES HELP

ALLAHABAD: General manager, North Central R ailway (NCR), MC Chauhan visited the railway hospital here on Saturday and met the injured passengers of Friday’s train derailment and assured them of all possible help.

Three persons died and nine passengers were injured in the derailment of Vasco Da GamaPatna Express near Manikpur station in Chitrakoot on Friday. The injured were admitted to the railway hospital out of which two-- Arvind Verma and Rameshwar-were later admitted to Yashlok Hospital. However, on Saturday, Verma was shifted to Sahara Hospital, Lucknow on his father’s wish. The passenger was taken to the hospital at around 2.50pm in an ICU ambulance arranged by the railways on its expenses, said CPRO, NCR, GK Bansal.

“Taking note of the critical condition of the patient, we had planned to send him to Medanta Hospital. We had also arranged an air ambulance for this. But the patient’s father wished to take the patient to Sahara Hospital in Lucknow,” he said. He said this was the first time when the NCR administra­tion had arranged for an air ambulance.

CRS (NORTH CIRCLE) TO PROBE DERAILMENT

Commission­er railway safety, north circle, SK Pandey will probe the derailment. The investigat­ion will be carried out on Nov 28 in Manikpur and Nov 29 in Allahabad where he will record statements of railway officials and employees.
