a successful one. Prof Tripathi’s tenure was marred by a controversy in September this year following a protest by students against an incident of sexual harassment on the campus on September 21.
The students were staging a protest outside the VC’s lodge on September 23 when they were allegedly cane-charged by police personnel. Use of force against agitating girls was widely condemned.
The state government formed a two-member committee headed by divisional commissioner Nitin Ramesh Gokarn to look into the incident. The panel accused the VC of mishandling the situation.
