-

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee said on Sunday the ongoing civic polls would mark the end of control of the Bharatiya Janata Party on the urban civic bodies for a very long time.

“The Congress has done very well in the ongoing elections and this will mark the end of the dominance of the BJP in the urban local bodies,” said Onkarnath Singh, state spokesperson of the UPCC.

He said the Congress party is thankful to the people for showing inclination for the party.

Singh also hit out at the ruling BJP saying, “the way confusion and chaos was witnessed in the second phase, it was evident that the ruling party is trying to turn the poll results in its favour. The incidents of names missing from the voters lists and disruption in polling for hours because of malfunctioning in EVMs is a matter of concern.”

Meanwhile, the legal cell of the Congress has filed a complained in the EC against the circle officer of Fathepur and inspector Kotwali there for preventing the state president of the party from campaigning for the party’s nagar palika chairperson candidate Archana Gupta.

Chairman of the legal cell of the party Ganga Singh, who filed the complaint, said that the ruling dispension was preventing the Congress candidate from campaigning.
