Three BLOs served show-cause notice
LUCKNOW:After the election commission sought a report from the district administration about names missing from the electoral list, district magistrate Kaushalraj Sharma has asked all additional assistant electoral registration officers and zonal officers of Lucknow Nagar Nigam to explain why so many names were missing from the voters lists.
These zonal officers have been given the task to collect complaints from all residents of colonies reported in newspapers.
Meanwhile, three booth level officers (BLOs) have been issued show cause notice for not distributing voter slips in VVIP areas of Hazratganj, Butler Palace and Gomti Nagar.
They will have to explain this laxity by 4 pm on Tuesday or face suspension.
With this, the task of identifying the people behind a large number of missing names has started. .
District magistrate Kaushalraj Sharma has asked these zonal officers to look into all the complaints seriously, else they would face strict action.
He has directed to tally voter list of 2012 and 2017 and verify the complaints from them.
The district magistrate has also directed to find out the people responsible for name addition and deletion in the list for the past 6 months, for names of dignitaries not mentioned in voters lists.
To note, even MP Kalraj Mishra, minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi, MP Sanjay Seth and DGP Sulkhan Singh were not able to vote as their names were missing from the voters list.
If the sources are to be believed, then all the zonal officers have been reprimanded by municipal commissioner Udairaj Singh after the complaint of names missing in the vote list .
The municipal commissioner has directed the zonal officers to give him a report about all the areas, especially Dilkusha, Vikramaditya Marg, Alambagh, Mawaiyya, Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar, Mahanagar, Jankipuram, Triveni Nagar, Chowk, Thakurganj, Balaganj, Ashiana, Vrindavan Colony, Hazratganj, Narhi, Gomti Nagar extension, Ismailganj, New Hyderbad, Aminabad, Moulviganj, Rakabagnj and Nazarbagh.
