At just 21, he is an author, orator and medal winner

LUCKNOW: At 21, when most youngsters remain hooked to social media, Saksham Agrawal has authored four papers that got published in important journals. Saksham will receive the Chancellor’s Gold Medal at the Lucknow University convocatio­n to be held in December.

“Two of them were published in the UGC listed journal. I have also edited a law book on Constituti­onal governance and protection of minorities,” claimed Saksham after the university announced the winner of the coveted medal here on Monday.

A seventh semester student of LLB Hons, Saksham dreams to become the prime minister of India one day. He is confident that he is capable of this because he believes in his unique ability to connect well with anybody on the planet on account of his oratory skills. “I’m a good orator,” said Saksham who will receive the medal from home minister Rajnath Singh.

Saksham said he was confident of getting selected for the medal because of his long list of achievemen­ts. He made a short film on importance of toilets that won the fourth prize in Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Internatio­nal Socio Legal Film Making Competitio­n. “My heart bleeds to see that even today girls and women in villages defecate in the open. We should all strive hard to ensure that every family in the country has a toilet,” he said.

A pass out of Rani Laxmibai Memorial Senior Secondary School, Saksham made a Madan Mohan Malviya Trust that now has a collection of 75,000 books which students can borrow. He himself contribute­d Rs 20,000 in setting up this trust and purchasing books.

The Chancellor’s Silver Medal for being the best among all students of all the faculties in postgradua­te classes will be conferred on Anjali Singh who did MPA in 2017. She aspires to get into civil services. “I maintain a good balance between academics and social activities,” she said.

Akanksha Prajapati, 28, who did M Ed, will bag the other Chancellor’s Silver Medal for the best woman student of the university. She has qualified for Junior Research Felllow in January 2017 and wants to become a professor. “Prof Amita Bajpai, head of the education department, is my role model,” she said.

Dr Chakravart­i Medal will be conferred on Komal of MA Defence Studies for best conduct in the and most helpful. Student of IT College, Arunima Mushran, 21 of BA third year will receive the Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal for being the best NCC Cadet of the varsity.
