‘UP govt to expedite doctors’ recruitmen­t

LUCKNOW: In view of the crisis of the specialist doctors, the state health department has decided to grant specialisa­tion to pathologis­ts, radiologis­ts, staff nurse and AYUSH doctors through bridge course.

Also, to contain the crisis of gynaecolog­ists, the state health department has decided to upgrade the qualificat­ion of nurses posted in the government hospitals.

UP health minister Sidharth Nath Singh on Monday said the state government was also committed to expediting recruitmen­t of doctors to ensure their availabili­ty in the government hospitals across the state.

“A committee has been constitute­d under secretary, health and family welfare, V Hekali Zhimomi to accelerate recruitmen­t of doctors,” he said in a press release.

To provide quality and quick health service to the people residing in far-flung area of the state is the top priority of the state government.

The committee will study all the legal aspects regarding the recruitmen­t of the doctors and present its report to the state government, the release said.

The state government has already decided to fill vacant posts of doctors in the government hospitals through bidding model. The order to hire doctors for a year has been issued.

“The aim is to provide quality health service to the doctors in the district hospitals and health centres,” he said.

Singh said the state government had already increased the retirement age of doctors from 60 to 62 years.

The UP Public Service Commission had recruited 20,165 doctors and 1,700 newly appointed doctors had been posted, he said.

The state government has decided to recruit 1000 doctors through walk-in interview and 300 doctors had already been appointed in the government hospitals, the minister added.
