ALIGARH: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Hindu Jagran Manch activists on Sunday locked the house of Sunil Singh, the director of Game of Ayodhya. The activists claim the movie wrongly depicts that Lord Ram’s statue was installed in a ‘deceitful’ manner in Ayodhya. They threatened if the film was released on December 8, they will set cinema halls and the director’ house on fire.

ALIGARH: Defying heavy police deployment, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM) activists locked the house of Sunil Singh, director of the film ‘Game of Ayodhya’, here on Sunday.

They also painted it black. The Hinduvadi activists had announced three days ago that they would resort to this if the release of this film was not stayed.

The activists also announced in front of the police that if the film was released on December 8, they would set fire to cinema halls and the director’ house.

To recall, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and the Hindu Jagran Manch have been protesting against the film, saying it is a conspiracy against Hindu religion.

State organizing secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad Amit Goswami had also announced a bounty for cutting the hands of Sunil Singh.

The effigy of Sunil Singh is constantly being burnt in Aligarh and Hindu Jagran Manch has also taken out his mock funeral procession.

The film portrays a HinduMuslim love story in the backdrop of Babri mosque demolition.

The activists claimed the movie wrongly depicted that Lord Ram’s statue was installed in a ‘deceitful’ manner in the temple in Ayodhya.

Sunil Singh is the president of Lok Dal and owner of Saroj Education Group. Consequently, there is a lot of anger in the party over his house being locked. District president of Lok Dal Devanand spoke to senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajesh Pandey in this connection on Sunday and complained about the cops’ attitude during the protest.

Devanand told the media in a press conference that the activists locked the house of Sunil Singh in the presence of police. This had raised a question mark on police working. If the police did not take any action, Lok Dal would protest in the state.

On the other hand, Sunil Singh said the protests had no meaning without people watching the movie.

“The protesters just want to brighten up their political careers,” he said, adding that he would visit Aligarh on December 4 or 5 and show the movie to the professors of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) first.

Meanwhile, the Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) submitted a memorandum (addressed to the home minister) to the district magistrate as part of its protest against the movie.
